Submission Guidelines:

Spilled Milk is on an indefinite hiatus and is not currently accepting submissions (but someday we might again!).

Fiction & Nonfiction: Individual pieces should be no more than 4,000 words. Though that is our maximum word count, we tend to publish shorter pieces of 2,000 words or less. Please only submit one story or essay at a time. If you are submitting short shorts/flash fiction, feel free to submit up to 5 pieces at one time. Please put all the work you are now submitting into one single file.

Please submit creative nonfiction under the Fiction category, including CNF in the title. 

Poetry: Please submit no more than 5 poems at a time. Please put all the work you are now submitting into one single file.

Artwork: We are happy to look at all kinds of art work including but not limited to: paintings, photography, mixed media, graphic design, 2D renderings of 3D artwork, etc. 

We accept simultaneous submissions, but please withdraw the work if it has been excepted elsewhere.

We only accept previously unpublished work. 

We do not accept submissions via email, snail mail, carrier pigeon, owls, messages in bottles, or any other method of communication besides our submission manager. Any submissions sent outside of the submission manager will not be considered nor responded to.
